Althea McNish – Textile Revolutionary

Britain’s first black textile designer of international standing. Althea McNish was an influential textile designer who sadly passed away at the age of 95 on the 16th April 2020. We would like to celebrate her life and her contribution to British Textile Design She was truly an inspiration and a revolutionary black woman who managed to radiate lively colours in Britain during its postwar greyness. The project was a collaboration between Laura Sanderson and Friction Collective, “Friction Collection wanted to create a film short about someone who uses swimming throughout winter to improve their health” explained Laura. IWD Dinner- A Personal Reflection

Eye opening. Magical. Inspiring. Reflective. Meaningful. These are just a few adjectives to describe the dinner celebrating International Women’s Day on the 12th of March 2020. Almost a month has passed since that evening, but I still remember those four hours as if it was yesterday. Such a memorable night!
