ACTIVE WEAR FOR ACTIVISTS SPRING 2020

RubyMoon will be launching ten new products and, as usual, named them after some of the women entreprenuers supported in developing countries. The RubyMoon brand story is about transforming ocean waste into soft but durable products and then loaning 100% of the profits to empower women entrepreneurs to create better lives.

Founder Jo-Anne Godden said: “The fashion industry has the most substantial potential to positively impact the social and environmental state of our planet.” With a circular business model, RubyMoon is a Brighton based social enterprise also commited to 9 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The new GymToSwim® pieces available from Spring 2020 are:
The Freda a one piece swimsuit with fuschia pink racer back straps and has a hidden shelf bra. It is named after a woman entrepreneur that sells flowers in the Philippines.
The Jenny tankini, a versatile piece that can be worn with a variety of swim bottoms is named after a farmer from Ecuador;
The Yasmeen surf top to protect your skin from the sun whilst swimming or playing watersports is named after a hairdresser from Palestine;
The Susana reversible bikini top with detachable straps is named after a woman entrepreneur from Ecuador producing indigenous design souvenirs;
And finally, Maria reversible bottoms available in two colourways including fuscia pink and perfect for all beach sports: named after a strawberry seller from Ecuador- see below for Maria’s story.

In addition there will be 5 more styles, now in development!

Maria Juana sells strawberries and strawberry popsicles door to door in various villages around Ilumán. By offering the strawberries to customers to taste, Maria always sells out! Her daughter, Melanie, insists on helping her mother prepare the popsicles after school and also joining her to sell them. Melanie wants to be just like her mother when she grows up. With the money she earns Maria helps her father, who is 90 years old, and provides for her two daughters.
